I Won Nanowrimo and I’m Back Baby

I reached my goal of writing 50,000 words of a novel during the month of November which is the criteria for “winning” National November Writing Month a.k.a. Nanowrimo. It was my fourth year participating in the event. I have written four novels in the past four years during the month of November.

For some reason, this was the hardest year for me. Maybe it was the fact that I went on a cruise the first 8 days of the month and forgot to bring my laptop with me. Even though I spent hundreds of dollars using the ship's Internet and kept up with my word count during the cruise (you are supposed to write 1667 words a day), when I got back, I fell behind and really had to fight to reach the goal at the end. I had to write an average 4000-5000 words a day the last five days of the event. I was not alone either. Several of my writing buddies, who were also Nanowrimo veterans suffered from the same malady. We helped to pull each other through it though and will have much to celebrate at this weekend's TGIO (Thank God It's Over) party. I personally thank God for the work ethic and the determination. This was not going to be my first year to miss the goal.

Needless to say that, during Nanowrimo, it's almost impossible to keep up with blogging or any other social or recreational activity for that matter. In fact, sometimes essential activities like food shopping, pedicures, cooking and the like fall by the wayside during the event. I spent the last two weeks recuperating, but now, I'm all rested and more fired up than ever about new blog posts and new projects for the coming year. Some of the new blog posts you can expect are about the 2011 Amazon.com Breakthrough Novel Contest, the new Weightwatchers PointsPlus program, clean eating, and my new writing projects for 2011. You are not going to want to miss any of this so stay tuned.

Peace
